HARBOUR LOAN

REDUCED TO £67,619 The passing of accounts totalling £554b 15s lid for payment by the Oamaru Harbour Board yesterday included the payment of debenture v No. 14 for £4980 4s 3d. This reduced the loan indebtedness on the port to £67,619 16s Bd. The chairman (Mr G. T. Gillies) commented that it was pleasing to see the figure being reduced, and ratepayers knew that that was where their money was going. They had an asset in the port, and the board wanted to preserve that asset for the ratepayers, and make use of it.
