BURNSIDE RAM FAIR
KEEN DEMAND IN MOST SECTIONS The annual ram and ewe fair conducted under the auspices of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held yesterday at Burnside. In the stud section Romneys met with a keen demand, and a revival of interest in Border Leicesters was shown, prices for this breed being the best obtained for some years. Best stud Romneys sold from 40gns to 57|gns, good stud Border Leicesters 35gns to 53gns, and Southdowns to 30gns. The offering of flock rams was the smallest seen at the fair for some years. Romneys and Border Leicesters were keenly sought, the demand for the best quality being particularly good. Best flock Romneys brought from lOgns to 14£gns, average 7gns to 9gns, and ordinary from sgns. Best Border Leicesters made to 18gns, medium Bgns to lOigns, and inferior s£gns to 7gns. Southdowns made from Bgns to lOJgns. In the Corriedale section there was a restricted inquiry. Good sheep sold from 6gns to 7£gns, and ordinary from 3gns to 4gns.
