TIMBER WORKERS’ AWARD

TIME LOST ON SATURDAYS ( PA) WELLINGTON, Feb. 11. The National Disputes Committee under the timber workers’ award has decided that time lost on Saturdays following the recent holiday period could not be accounted as due to be worked at ordinary rates of pay to offset the extra days lost at Christmas time, because those extra days were declared to be “ permissive holidays ” under the order Issued by the Timber Controller. The question of the degree to which the rest period emergency regulations apply to the industry was also decided by the committee in a manner which it was felt would be satisfactory to the workers.
