REPORTS OF COMMITTEES At its monthly meeting to-morrow night the Oamaru Borough Council will consider tire following committee reports and recommendations: — Finance.—The Finance Committee recommends that the following grants, allowed for in the estimates, be paid— Friendly Bay Society £SO, Garrison Band (balance) £25, Plunket Society Salvation Army £lO, Blind Institute £•> os. Water.—The Waterworks Committee recommends that the question of extending the water main in Isis street to serve Mr W. Bedford’s property, and giving a trough supply to Mr C. Thompson at the Cape, from a pipe laid by the Army Department, be referred to the chairman; that J. Mulligan and Sons’ tender for flume replacements be received. Wor^s.—The Works Committee recommends that the acting foreman report on (a) the repainting of street name plates on the South Hill; (b) the painting of street names on both sides of the plates on Thames Highway; (c) the replacement of broken or lost street name plates; that the acting foreman’s report on the question of restoring McAdam avenue be adopted, the work to be carried out after the recent filling used at the trenches had consolidated.

Reserves. —The Reserves Committee recommends that the letter from the clerk of the court, Oamaru, advising that the department was agreeable to pay £2O per annum for the maintenance of the Courthouse grounds, also that a voucher for £4O, representing two years’ maintenance costs, had been passed for payment, be received; that after full consideration, the committee desires that the communication from the engineer to the Waitaki Electric Power Board, regarding trees and power lines in Chelmer street, be dealt with by tire council. After fully discussing the matter, a special committee appointed to inspect and report on available building sites in connection with rehabilitation, decided to recommend that the question be deferred for consideration in six months’ time.
