CITY POLICE COURT

In the City Police Court yesterday a first offender pleaded not guilty to a charge of drunkenness. In evidence, he stated that he was in a boisterous mood, but was not drunk, and accused the constable who made the arrest of pummelling him and twisting his arm. The constable denied using undue violence. . Commenting that the accused was more under the influence of liquor than, he thought at the time, the magistrate imposed a fine of 10s, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment.
