NOTES FROM RICCARTON
(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 7. The Riccarton trainer H. Nurse is laid up in hospital as the result of an accident While riding his bicycle on the Yaldhurst road on Saturday morning, he was knocked over by a motor car, breaking a collarbone and receiving injuries to his head. . A number of trainers have their teams in preparation for the West Coast meetings scheduled for this month. In the meantime they are keeping their horses in strong work, while they await definite news whether the racing will take place. The two-year-olds Cinderella and Record Voyage, who finished in the minor places in 'the Irwell Handicap on Saturday, were both bred at Stonyhurst Stud and their dams are half-sisters. Cinderella was in a draft of young horses sold from the stud last autumn, and she is being raced bv Mr A. L. Power, who has leased her from Mr K. Austin. Record Voyage, the last of the progeny of Fast Passage, who died seme time ago, remains the property of Mr J. B. Douglas Clifford, the owner of Stonyhurst Stud. In Chancery has developed a curb, and she had to miss her engagement in the Middle Park Plate on Saturday.. It is probable that E. J. Jennings will have to spell her. ~ F. Christmas has sent the three-year-niH Chellow Dene home, as he was not thriving and he will be spelled.
