THE GLENFALLOCH CASE

JOCKEY’S SUSPENSION REDUCED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 7. The sentence of six months’ suspension imposed by the Judicial Committee of the Wellington Racing Club on W. J. Broughton for not riding Glenfalloch out at the finish of the Wellington Racing Club Handicap, run at Trentham on January 22, was reduced to three months today by the Wellington District Committee, to whom Broughton appealed. Mr H. H. Smith, the owner of Glenfalloch, gave evidence in support of Broughton to the effect that Glenfalloch was a lazy horse who stopped Very quickly once he got to the front. This was fresh evidence, which was not available to the Judicial Committee when Broughton was charged on the day of the race.
