ESCAPED FROM ITALY

DOMINION PRISONERS OF WAR ARRIVAL IN SWITZERLAND (N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent) (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 6. News of nine New Zealanders who escaped from Italy to Switzerland has been received in London from Private D. L. Jacobs (.Christchurch). He states: “About 50 from the camp I was in have arrived. The Swiss people were very good and kindness itself. I was able to hire a wireless and listen-in to New Zealand news broadcast from London every Tuesday.” Expressing thanks to Mr C. B. Burdekin, who is in charge of the prison-ers-of-war department at New Zealand House, Private Jacobs says: “ New Zealand House has done great work for the lads. I really believe we are treated better than men from any of the other dominions.”
