NOTES FROM RICCARTON
(Special) CHRISTCHURCH Jan. 5. C T Wilson returned home after riding at Greymouth on the second day. He will go south for the final day of the Dunedin Jockev Club’s meeting, where his mounts include Standby. Silver Sox, Piccolo, Night Lancer, and Sal’s Pal. Later in the month Wilson will be at Trentham, where Grilse and Royal Greek are his only definite rides at present. He may, however, bu on Glenfalloch in the Wellington Cup. Vaoort, Commemorate, Notary, and the two-year-old Ascot Blend have returned from an unsuccessful southern trip. A large number of horses from here came home after racing at Greymouth, so that the fields will not be so large at Reefton on Saturday. K. Thomson will be a new rider to go from bore. John Gay, who disappointed in his two runs in the south, is not engaged on the final day at Wingatui. He is due home to-day, and will rest for a few days before going to Trentham. Gay Fort started twice at Greymouth on Monday, but did not show up. He is home again, and his racing career may be nearly at an end. He looked a good propect early in his career, but lately ne has contracted the bleeding habit, without ever realising the expectations of his admirers.
