THE LAWRENCE PROGRESS LEAGUE
Sir,—ln your issue of October 20 “ True Progress ” asserts that it is obvious that I am working for someone else. I can assure your correspondent mat this is not the case. Despite his assertion that there was no hidden meaning in his first letter, I am convinced that there was a mysteroius imputation contained therein. If not, why does " True Progress ” show such reluctance in mentioning the local article and bringing the whole of his real or imaginary grievance before the public? I assure him that I have dealt during my residence in Lawrence with every business man in the town and have never yet been refused any goods I desired to obtain. Your correspondent, who appears to be so public-spirited and progressive, would be better employed in assisting the Progress League than in trying to deprecate and criticise its individual members.—l am, etc.,
R. W. McCutcheon, Lawrence, October 21.
