COMING ATTRACTIONS
REGENT THEATRE Frank Butler and W. R. Burnett share the credit for Paramount’s screen play, “ Wake Island,” which tells the authentic' film story of the historic stand of a gallant band of marines on the mid-Pacific outpost. The picture will be shown at the Regent Theatre to-morrow. The authors of “ Wake Island ” went to the official records of the Marine Corps to make the story of the 15-day siege historically accurate. Thus the destruction of eight of the Marine planes on Wake at the opening of the attack, the bombing strategy of the Japanese, the sinking of a Nipponese cruiser by Marine aircraft, the disabling of a large part of the enemy naval flotilla by shore batteries as shown in the picture are part of the official record. The writers created individual characters whose Individual fates become the concern of the audience. Butler brought to the job of writing a war story the personal knowledge of war. Box plans are at the D.I.C.
