Returned Soldier's Appeal Gunner L. A. Waterreus (Mr J. H. Main), a returned soldier from this war, applied for release from further military obligations. He had volunteered for special service in 1939 before war broke out and had served for 10 months on coastal defence He went overseas with the thhd echelon, and had had almost continuous service ever since.. He wished to letui n to his former occupation as a fisherman. As no policy had been formulated by the Government for the release of men on furlough, the board reserved its aecision. A suggestion was made that Gun ner Waterreus should proceed with his application for a fishing licence.
