MOTORING INTERESTS

TRAFFIC RULE DISCUSSED At the monthly meeting of the North Otago Automobile Association the president (Mr I. Dalmer) was in the chair, and there were also present Messrs J. Gsrrie, G. Cartwright, D. H. Thomson. R. J. Millen, D. L. Patterson, W. Gillies, D. Corson, and J. W. Petrie. The secretary (Mr H. Hay) reported that the Southland Automobile Association had written advising a change in the colour route between Invercargill and Clifden, via Tuatapere and Riverton. The previous colour, blue, bad proved unsatisfactory, but the new combination, white over blue, was a great improvement. A communication was received from the Sout!i Island Motor Union Mutual Assurance Association advising that a goodwill giant of £lO5 had been made to the Oamaru Association. It was proposed that a portion of the grant he used to estaohsh a membership credit account, details of which would be explained at a later Gate.—The secretary reported that a letter ot appreciation had been forwarded to the South Island Union. It was decided to record appreciation of the services of Mr A. A. Mays, and to express regret that he was not available for election to the executive. Mr J. M. Wilson had been notified of his election to the Executive Council. The South Island Motor Union had been notified, in reference to the right-hand ruie that the Oamaru Association did not favour the proposed amendment to the regulations,. and approved of the Full Court’s decision, which made the rule absolute. Mr Cartwright moved that the Oamaru delegates to the annual meeting of the South Island Motor Union be given a flee hand.— I The motion was carried.

It was mentioned that the South Island thiKn’s decision on the matter was being awaited by the North Island Union,. The Oamaru delegates to the 'meeting will be Messrs Dalmer, Gerrie, Petrie, and Thomson and in the event of any of the above not being able to attend, Mr Hay will act as a delegate. It was agreed that Messrs Thomson and Petrie represent the association at the anntial meeting of the Otago Association, which would be held shortly.
