SCRAP METAL SUPPLIES

To avoid the introduction of specific regulations, the Controller of Salvage (Mr J. B. Lymburn) is seeking the co-opera-tion of the manufacturing industry in obtaining information regarding stocks in foundries of scrap cast-iron, copper, and brass. The Dunedin Manufacturers' Association has been advised that the controller is anxious to ensure a more equitable distribution of materials which are in short supply, and he has indicated that he may take steps to divert excessive stocks held by manufacturers. The controller’s proposals will be discussed at a meeting of local manufacturers at an early date.
