LAWRENCE
Soldier Entertained.—Private H. Barr was entertained at a social function held in the Lawrence Town Hall on Monday night. Mr W. J. Suters presented the guest with a monetary gift on behalf of the citizens, and a parcel of hand-knitted articles was presented by Mrs W- J. Suters on behalf of the ladies of Lawrence. Mr J. Forbes, representing the local branch of tlie R.S.A., also spoke. Following supper, dancing was enjoyed, the music being supplied by Miss E. Goodlet and Mr I. Guthrie.
Farewell Social.—A, farewell social was recently tendered to Mr and Mrs J. A. Bulfin,' of Tuapeka West, prior to their departure for Dunedin. Mr R. Hunter addressed the gathering and presented the guests with a monetary gift. Mr G. 11. Williams and Mr N. Young endorsed Mr Hunter’s remarks. During the evening musical items were contributed, and supper was served.
