TAIERI HOME GUARD

A smoke concert was held at MOsgiel by B Company of the Taieri Battalion of the Home Guard, on Saturday. The officer commanding, Captain C. Pilling, welcomed the Guardsmen and the large number of visitors, on whose behalf the Mayor of Mosgiel (Mr W. P. Hartstonge) re.plied. Numerous toasts were honoured, and an - enjoyable programme was presented by the following:—Guardsmen R. L. Graham (trombone), G. A. Gibson (songs), N. W. R. Stratton and J. Milne (bagpipes), W. R. Hudson (elocution), N. J. White (cornet), M. McDonald and G. G. Hunter (songs). Sergeant H. T. Wilkins (legerdemain) and Lieutenant E. D. Farrant (violin).
