OBITUARY

(PA.). i INVERCARGILL. July 13. The, death occurred suddenly at Winton this morning of Dr Peter Gow. He -was » . past president of the .Winton Jockey Club, a life member and past president of the Winton A. >and P. Association, and a foundation member of that body. , He was also a member of the committee of the Winton Trotting Club. He was a justice of the peace, and had been a member of local bodies as well as president of the golf and lawn tennis clubs for many years. Dr Gow was twice married. Of three sons of his first marriage one was recently killed in the Air Force. He is also survived by his second wife, Dr Moana Gow, and two daughters and a •on.

MRS JANE WALKER

Mrs Jane Walker, an old resident of the district, died at Wetherstones . recently after a short illness. She was born in Edinburgh in 1856, and arrived in New Zealand with her parents in 1858. In 1877 her family shifted to Wetherstones,. and in 1879 she married Mr Alexander Walker, who was well known in the mining industry. Mr Walker was a staunch supporter. of the Presbyterian Church.. HCr husband died in 1932, and she Is" survived by seven sons, Messrs William and Ivan Walker (Lawrence), Maurice and John • Walker (Mosgiel),Robert B. - Walker (Wanaka), James Walker (Christchurch), and Alexander Walker (Dunedin), and two daughters, Mrs M. B. Varcoe (Lawrence) and Mrs Clews (Auckland). '
