MUFTI ALLOWANCE

PAYMENT OF HIGHER RATE SERVICE QUALIFICATIONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 13. The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, announced to-night that, following the war Cabinet’s decision that the mufti allowance should be increased, consideration has been given to the conditions of payment, and it had been decided that the new scale would be as follows:—Six months’ service, £10; seven months, £l2 10s; eight months £ls; nine months. £l7 10s; ten months £2O; eleven months, £22 10s; 12 months and over, £25. Mr Fraser said it had also been decided that the new scale should apply irrespective of whether the qualifying service was performed in New Zealand or overseas, and should be restrospective. Members of the forces who had already received their allowance and were entitled to the increase should apply in writing .o their last paying authority—in the case of soldiers finally discharged from the 2nd N.Z.E.F. to the director of Base Records, Wellington, and in the case of soldiers discharged from home service units to the district paymaster and accountant, New Zealand Military Forces, Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. Applications, whicn should contain the soldier’s number, full name, and present address, would be dealt with as expeditiously as possible and in the order received.
