Newlands, Dr C. E. Austin, Messrs N. D. Anderson, John Bennetts, James Copland, J. Sutherland Ross, H. McDowell Smith, J. L.' Salmond, J. W. Dove, Arthur Barnett, L. F.' Evans, J. B. McGill, Charles Smith, Edgar Hazlett, W. G. Kindley, A. C. Cameron, James Hogg, J. J. Marlow, J. C. Kirkness, F. Percyr and W. B. Taverner. Treasurer’s Statement ' The statement submitted by the trea*urer (Mr R. A. Johnston) showed that the total amount collected in Otago to May 28 was £427,199 6s lid, which included £56,'382 collected by the Red Cross and £.11,000 5s 6d collected for the Spitfire Fighter Plane Fund. The total expenditure on approved patriotic purposes was shown at £165,899 5s lid, and administration and incidental expenses amounted to £10.872 3s lid. T)te funds on hand stood at £183,045 11s 7d. The receipts since the previous monthly statement were £3903 9s 7d, and grants and other outgoings for the same period totalled £1758 3s lid. Committee Reports Submitting the Appeals Committee report, Mr Hogg urged the zone committees to pay in their contributions to the All Purposes Appeal as promptly as possible, *o that the Finance Committee would know the amounts available to meet the council’s commitments to the Patriotic Fund Board.—The Mayor said that the total received to date was £34,957, which represented about 30 per cent, of the amount required.—The country representatives expressed the view that no difficulty would be experienced in raising their respective quotas, and Mr Cameron said that, including several large amounts yet to come to hand, the Dunedin-St. Hilda Sub-zone was just on the halfway mark with £29,000. Mr Hazlett presented the Finance Committee’s report, which recommended that accdunts amounting to £456 6s 3d should be ‘passed for payment. These included grants of £282 12s 3d to the Women s War Services Club, £2B 14s for gift parcels. £SO 11s Id for the Mens Services Club, and £l3 14s 9d for camp amenities. Dr Newlands, reporting for the Keiiei Committee, said that relief amounting to £74 12s had bemi granted in 21 cases during the month. Ten applications for rtelief had been declined. .
