THE POPE’S ADMONITION 4 OPPOSITION TO EVIL FORCES (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, May 28. ■ - The Vatican radio, in a German broadcast last night, quoted a letter from the Pope to the German bishops, in which the Pope admonished German Catholics oppose “ evil forces whenever possible.” The letter went on; “We know the strength and power of the faithful Germans—priests and laymen—who prefer to suffer the worst rather than abandon Christ. On you, faithful Germans, centuries of Christians are looking down, and later centuries will thank you for your steadfastness.” The Pope added that during his time as a bishop in Germany he had learned to appreciate and love the German people. “ I therefore' think it is 'deplorable that the present aim is tc rob the German nation of all its good qualities—namely, to destroy everything, the church, has given to Germany."
