OVERSEAS SHIPPING

POST-WAR POSITION OBSCURE (Special) OAMARU, Apl. 30. In reply to an inquiry by Mr S. Symon (secretary of the North Otago Progress League) as to the possibility of overseas •shipping calling at Oamaru to load, advice has been received from the Overseas Ship Owners’ Allotment Committee (Wellington) that the overseas shipping companies do not see any hope of conditions permitting the loading of liners at Oamaru during the war. The outlook at the present time, the letter adds, is altogether too obscure to enable the companies' to say what the post-war position will be.
