An amendment to a price order which was issued to-night reduces the maximum retail price of potatoes by a halfpenny a lb during May and June The. maximum prices now ore: Canterbury and Otago, lid; main port areas, ljd; country districts, liid. The amendment also provides for a pro rata reduction for lots of 141 b and over.

The prices have been reduced to assist in maintaining the prices of basic vegetables at a reasonable level, and the reduction will not affect the price payable to the producers.
