AIR MAIL LETTER CARDS

PRICE REDUCTION ANNOUNCED (Special) WELLINGTON, Apl. 29. The Postmaster-general, Mr P. C. Webb, announces a reduction in the selling price of prisoner-of-war air mail letter cards from Is 6d to Is. The Minister stated that the popularity of the card with the public was illustrated by the fact that about 70 per cent, of the air mail communications addressed to prisoners of war were written on these special cards. “ One advantage of the card,” Mr Webb added, “ is that the censorship is facilitated in enemy countries as well as in New Zealand by reason of the fact that the card is closed by folding instead of sealing. Another advantage which is important from the viewpoint of the Allied war effort is that its use conserves weight on the aircraft conveying mails across the North Atlantic.”
