ANGLING CONDITIONS

The frequent atmospheric changes which have been experienced lately have had an adverse effect on angling, but a few good fish are being taken. A fish weighing sJlb from the Waikouaiti River was the best that has been reported locally, but fish weighing 71b, 81b, and 121 b have been caught recently in the Mataura River, near Mataura, which has been found very good for fishing when clear. A progressive movement to interest the youth of to-day in angling was initiated last week by the Otago Anglers’ Association, and several schemes, which should benefit all anglers, have been planned for the new year.
