The American horse Whirlaway recently brought his winning total to about £140,228. Sing Sing has come into favour for the Dunedin Cup. K. W. Wilson will have the mount on her. The Solicitor General three-year-old Carpos, formerly trained by W. T. Hazlett, is now in R. McLellan’s stable. Regal Fox has been rehandicapped to carry 9.4 in the Auckland Cup, and Neenah 9.1 in the Railway Handicap. Military Maid is reported to have been improved by recent racing. She scored four wins last season. Although Enrich pulled up lame after the New Zealand Cup meeting he figures amongst the acceptances for the Manawatu meeting. Gordon Richards finished the English racing season with G 7 winners. His aggregate is now 2743 winners, or six fewer than Fred Archer's record. Mr M. H. Tims, the owner of Tutere, has purchased a three-year-old filly by Salmagundi—Llnwood, by Woodend — Sabor, by Fowling Piece. The filly is a sister to Light Cavalry. The New Zealand Derby winner Rink is engaged in the Manawatu Cup at 7.11. He won the Riccarton classic rather comfortably at the finish in 2min 33 3-sscc on a slow track. The New Zealand Cup and Wellington Cup winner Happy Ending is engaged amongst the sprinters at the Manawatu meeting. At the Grand National meeting he won the Paparua Handicap with 9.2 In Imin 15 l-ssec. The nominations for the Waikouaiti meeting are a record, and no fewer than five of the fields exceed the safety margin. There will no doubt be a splitting of forces over the holiday meetings and this will help to relieve the situation. After winning at Riccarton at the Christchurch Hunt meeting and the Grand National meeting, Silver Ball met with an accident which kept him off the scene for some considerable time, Ke has started four times this season without gaining a place, but has been showing signs of coming right again. Full reports of the Otaki meeting show that Moutoa Bond scored a runaway win in the principal race. She was always smart over a short course, but has now developed stamina. Moutoa Bond is a four-year-old by Bulandshar —Moutoa Treasury, by Paper Money—Moutoa Ivanova, by Martian. Moutoa Ivanova is 'a sister to Sasanof, one of the best performers of his day. Sing Sing, who is the latest to come into notice for the Dunedin Cup, is a four-vear-old mare by Salmagundi from Sheller, by Silverado —Windshield, by Tractor —Kilbreeze, by Kilbrony from Berisselette, the dam of Bonnie Winkie. Silverado got Silver Scorn and Silver Ring, and on the score, of breeding Sing Sing inherits plenty of strains carrying stamina to help her over a distance. Last season Sing Sing won in each of her four starts. This season she was third to Tutere and Good Scout in the Riccarton Handicap, but her best performance up to date was her third in the Members’ Handicap after appearing to be hopelessly out of it in the first furlong.
