RED CROSS SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Executive Committee of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, Dunedin Sub-centie, was attended bv Mr Charles Smith (in the chair), Mesdames R. Dawson, A. S. Bruce Smith J. L. Anderson, Misses G. Powley, C. Graham, J. Hay, W. Johnstone, D. Ramsay, and T. Paine. Christmas greetings were received from Private J. R. Laldlaw, a member of the Executive Committee, who is at present serving overseas. The British Red Cross Society acknowledged receipt of a further consignment of cases of refugee clothing. The Otago Centre has forwarded 78 cases of refugee clothing this year, all of which have arrived safely in England. Reporting on the activities of the past 12 months, the chairman referred to the splendid work done by the members of the guild, who had worked for four days a week since the beginning of the year. Working in conjunction with the St. John Women's War Committee the guild had completed 40 cases of hospital requirements, making a total of 9237 articles forwarded to Joint Council headquarters.
