ATHLETES’ TRIBUTE

When the trophies were being presented to the winning teams at the secondary schools’ championship sports at Carisbrook on Saturday, the president of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, Mr C. W. Clark, said that many of those who had competed at these meetings in recent years were now Serving overseas. Some had made the supreme sacrifice. As a tribute to those who were serving or had laid down their lives, those present stood in silence.
