INJURED IN FALL Mr John McKenzie, an elderly man, living at Cape Saunders, slipped on the steps at the Portobello Store on Saturday and fractured his right leg. He also suffered a head injury. He was admitted to the Hospital at midday for treatment. INJURY TO ELBOW Noel Craig, aged 11 years, who resides at 551 Castle street, injured his right elbow on Saturday when he fell when playing in the air raid shelters at the North Ground. He was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 11.30 a.m.

BLOWN OVER BY GALE (P.A.) PAHIATUA, Nov. 8 Blown over by a wind of gale force at Pahiatua on October 29, an elderly farmer, Robert Simpson, of Mangatainoka, died in the Pahiatpa Hospital on Thursday last. At the inquest yesterday the coroner found that the cause of death was cardiac failure following severe shock suffered as the result of the fall.
