“FOODS FIRST FOR FITNESS”

SLOGAN FOR TO-DAY

“ Right eating for the maintenance of physical health is one of the essential attributes to the development of civilisation One of the tragedies of to-day is that we * rationalise ’ disease,” says Herbert Sutcliffe, visiting health lecturer and food dietitian. "After the age of 40 many people accept the false idea that they must have pains, ailments, or chronic diseases. They cannot demonstrate health with any degree of certainty for many months of the year. We are inclined to sympathise with others or ourselves for having physical disorders, not realising that by simple methods of living-according to the findings of science —we can remove these disorders. “ Millions of pounds a year are spent in bolstering up a toxic body. Thousands of people are bound hand and foot to the diseases of other people. Such waste of money, such forms of slavery are now quite unnecessary. "If there Is an urgent need to-day,” said Herbert Sutcliffe, "It is to treat the removal of ill-health as a war measure and build national virility and confidence. “ Indeed.” concluded Herbert Sutcliffe, every citizen could adopt as a daily slogan. “Foods First for Fitness.” He delivers two health lectures to-night and to-morrow at 8 o’clock in Crawford Lounge. The public are invited.—l.
