CADET SHOOTING

PRESS SHIELD COMPETITION

McGLASHAN COLLEGE IN THE LEAD

With the exception of the Waitaki Boys' High School and St. Kevin's College teams, who will fire at Oamaru next Thursday, all the schools in the local area have completed their shooting for the Weekly Press Challenge Shield, which is awarded to the winner of the South Island secondary schools' shooting competition. The competition, which is open to cadets under the age of 17, consists of five shots application, five shots , standing, sitting, or kneeling, and 10 shots rapid. The following schools have completed their shooting:—Otago Boys' High School. King's High School, Christian Brothers' High School, Mosgiel District High School, and John McGlashan College. The lastnamed team is at present leading in the local area. The detailed scores will be announced later. The present holder of the shield is the Southland Boys' High School.
