"OUT OF NOTHING"

Sir, —Behind the expressions, " Something out of nothing 1 ' and "using the credit of the people " lies the idea that the war could be financed merely by fresh issues of paper money. "Pecunia" wquld object to the milkman's making "something out of nothing" by adding water to the milk. But the dilution of our currency with more paper,, whether by bank or Government, would have effects far more permanent and more, disastrous. Every pound, shilling and penny in the country would buy less.—l am, etc., Balclutha, June 23. H. Gow.
