RICCARTON NOTES
(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, June 23. The nine horses who went from here are all home from their trip to Wingatui, none the worse, in spite of lack of success. Seven of them are included in the nominations for Trentham. G. Ridgway has Stormy Petrel in work again after spelling for a few weeks. He bled in his race at Ashburton early last month, but he locks well, and he will be got ready to resume racing in August. Mr H. S. Williams's yearling sister to Good Scout, by Man's Pal from Knocklynn, is being broken in by J. S. Shaw. Owing to shortage of labour, F. D. Jones is unable to find room for her, so she will join the team of F. Christmas. Sir Lysander and Guardress, who have had a long spell, are again doing strong work with J. McLean's stable. H. and A. Cutts have a couple of two-year-olds coming on nicely. They have started on short sprints, in which thev move well, and they should be ready to start racing at one of the early spring meetings. Foxleap is a good-looking filly by Foxbridce from Stout Heart, a sister to Cricket Bat and Dress, while Ranji is a well-grown geldini? by Cricket Bat from High Rank, a Day Comet mare, half-sister to Fast Passage. J. H. Prosser is busy with two novices, both two-year-olds by Paladin. Eulogia, a filly from Motunau (dam of Eulogist), had two races in the autumn, and she should be readv to resum" in August. The other, a good-looking black gelding from Gr-nd Review, will have his first race in the spring.
