Old Writers' Association was held recently in the Wilson Hall, and took the form of a social and dance. A large number of old and younger writers were ioined by their friends in celebrating the fifty-sixth anniversary of the foundation of the D.L.F. page, which has, unfortunately, through shortage of paper, been temporarily discontinued. Miss Winstone, who was a foundation member of the Wanganui Aero Club, flew solo when only 17 years of age, being the youngest avlatrix in New Zealand at the time. She flew the late Sir Charles KingsfordSmith's famous Southern Cross, and holds a licence for flying four types of aeroplanes. Members of the W.W.S.A. who had given their services to assist in the sale of Liberty Bonds during the week of the special appeal, were entertained at afternoon tea at the Savoy, on Tuesday, by the organising committee for the Liberty Loan campaign. Some 60 W.W.S.A. members in uniform attended the function, which was pleasantly informal, and Mr J. W. Dove, on behalf of the organisers, expressed appreciation of the valuable assistance given by the women. Mrs C. Mackie Begg spoke appreciatively of the response made by the auxiliary members to the appeal for help, and thanked the organising committee for arranging such a pleasant function.
