AMERICAN DISHES

SPECIAL CANTEEN SERVICE SYDNEY, Mar. 23. American servicemen on leave in Sydney have already discovered the many club and canteen facilities which are "available to them as well as to members of the Australian fighting services. Men in the light khaki uniforms, with the United States insignia, are welcomed at the voluntary service canteens when on leave. Several of the canteens are serving special American dishes, and the other day the Canadian women on duty at St. Andrew's Hut wore very popular because they served upside-down pudding. Home billets for American soldiers, sailors and airmen have been arranged by Miss Anne Marsh, of the Australian Hospitality Hut, in Queen's square. American airmen on leave from R.A.A.F. stations avail themselves of the facilities of Air Force House, where the information bureau is of great assistance. Men wearing various United States emblems are among the hundreds of servicemen entertained by Open House at the Y.W.C.A. and at the Anzac Buffet, Cusa Hut, and Is aval Unit, and the All Services Canteen. •' Thank you, ma'am," is heard almost as often as just plain "Thank you."
