LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

St. Clair Branch.—Members recently enjoyed an afternoon of interesting book reviews, organised by Mrs Rutherford. Mrs Esplin reviewed “The Cherry Tree,” by Adrian Bell; Mrs McLachlan, “ Brierie Rose,” by Lesley Haylin; and Mrs Stuckey, “ The Song of Years,” by Bess Street Aldrich. Mrs Anderson introduced three more books by acting the titles, “Lantern in Her Hand,” “The Guests Arrive,” and “Little Ships.” Mrs Irvine rendered the solos “I’ll Walk Beside You ” and “ Home, Sweet Home.” Ravensbourne Branch.—Mrs Cairney presided and gave a report of the Provincial Council meeting. Flowers were brought for the mothers in the Queen Mary Maternity Hospital. The choir, under the leadership of Mrs A. Newey. sang “The Rowan Tree” and “Ye Banks and Braes.” Mrs Bell gave two Scottish readings from J. M. Barrie’s “A Window in Thrums.” Mrs H. Rodger submitted the following thought:—“ God uses the grey and golden weather to show us the rainbow’s scope, and out of our griefs and joys together He fashions us faith and hope.”
