TOWN HALL DANCE

Twenty-two competitors took part in the third and final heat of the Palais Glide competition at the weekly Town Hall dance on Saturday night, and the various sets gave their own interpretations of the popular dance. The contest proved highly spectacular, and was followed with great interest by the large crowd of dancers and spectators! Misses M. and J. Tait and G. Tisdall were placed first; Misses J. Baxter, M. Sinclair, and E. Green second, and Misses J. and B. Pope, R. McPhee, M. Kitto, and E. Blake third. These three sets will take part in the semi-final on March 14. The Georgians Strict Tempo Band supplied the music in the Main Hall and the Royal Band played for the old-time programme in the Concert Chamber.
