THE WEATHER
A GRADUAL IMPROVEMENT Forecast for Otago.—The following Is the official weather (precast for Otago, for the ensuing 24. hours, Issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Fresh to strong south-westerly winds; weather cold and changeable, with further showers, but conditions gradually improving. Further Outlook.—Becoming .fair. Weather to Dunedin.— The weather In Dunedin yesterday was cold and showery, with occasional bright sunshine.' There was a strong south-westerly wind, and the maximum thermometer reading was 58 degrees.* The barometric pressure was steady during the morning at 29.55 inches (1001 millibars), and began to rise in the afternoon. The reading at midnight was 29.75 inches (1007 millibars). The following are the meteorological obaervatlons, taken yesterday at the Daily Times Office;— 8 a.m. Noon. 6 p.m. m’nt.
High Water.—Taiaroa Heads, 3.34 a.m., 3.56 p.m.; Port Chalmers. 3.44 a.m., 4.6 p.m.; St. Clair, 4.4 a.m., 4.56 pan; Dunedin, 4.14 a.m., 4.36 p.m. ■’Phases of the Moon.—Full moon: Today ,12.20 p.m. Last quarter: March 10, 10 a.m. New moon: March 17, 11.55 a.m. First quarter: March 25. midnight.
