APPEALS AGAINST SERVICE SITTING OF MAN-POWER COMMITTEE A sitting of the Man-power Committee —Messrs D. C. Cameron (chairman), C. V. Smith and W. R. Clark—was held yesterday, when appeals against home service training were heard. The committee has decided that in all cases where an employer appeals for an employee the name of the reservist should not be published. Where a reservist appeals on his own behalf his name will be published. The following are the results of the appeals heard yesterday, the occupation of the reservist being given in parentheses:— Calder Mackay (sales manager), appeal allowed; James Sinton (butchery employee), appeal allowed; Donaghy's Rope and Twine Company (machinist), appeal adjpurned sine die; Spencer and Dunkley (E. F. Spencer), appeal dismissed; A. S. Paterson and Co. (manager), released from camp, case to be reviewed on April 30; C. Boyd, appeal allowed;. Farm Accounting Association (farm accounting officer), appeal allowed; Bank of New Zealand (accountant), appeal allowed; N. M. W. Fenton, appeal allowed; A. A. Barton, appeal allowed; University of Otago (professor of philosophy), released from camp from February 28; Hatfield Collar Company (collar-maker), released from camp,, case to be reviewed on June 30; S. R. Medder, released from camp, case to be reviewed on March 31; J. McC. Duncan, appeal dismissed. The following appeals were heard earlier:—R. W. Miller (signwriter), granted three days' leave; Director of National Service (field superintendent and supervising meat inspector), both to be released from camp; A. Morrison and Co., Ltd. (foundry worker), dismissed; Otago Farmers' Co-operative (accountant), dismissed: Otago Farmers' Co-operative (accountant and secretary), granted release from camp; Parker and LauWi, Ltd. (tannery employee), dism>*ed; Director of National Service (inspector of factories), granted release from camp; John Reid and Sons (accountant), released from camp on March 6; Dominion Fertiliser Company, Ltd. (subforeman), granted release on February 20; S. F. Aburn, Ltd. (factory manager), dismissed; J. Thompson, Ltd. (boot operator), granted release from camp; Department of Industries and Commerce (gas cutter), not to be called up before April 30; Wilkinson, Callon, Ltd. (steel furnaceman), released from camp; Fisher's Cash Butchery (butcher), adjourned to March 31; Crust and Crust, Ltd. (tractor driver), dismissed, not to be called up before May 31; Jensen Bros, (stock buyer), dismissed; 'Director of National Service (physical instructor), granted release from camp;\Clutha River Gold Dredging Company, Ltd. (engineer-fitter), adjourned sine die; Cossens and Black, Ltd. (foreman boilermaker), adjourned to April 30.
