LORNEVILLE MARKET

VALUES REMAIN FIRM (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 3. A small yarding of fat sheep at the Lorneville sale to-day consisted mainly of medium and freezing quality ewes. Good wethers and young ewes were in short supply. Wethers showed an improvement of about 2s 6d a head over the previous week's prices, while values for ewes of all classes remained unPrime .quality wethers made from 27s 6d to 28s 6d, good quality medium-weights 26s 3d to 275, with light-weights 23s to 24s 6d, and prime young ewes brought up to 12s 6d, with the majority of the yarding being sold at from 9s to 10s 6d. There was also a smaller yarding than that of last week in the fat lamb section, but some extra good quality lambs were included. Competition Was fair, and values realised were up to export schedule rates. Heavy-weight lambs made from 26s 6d to 27s 9d., good freezing weights 25s to 265, lighter weights 23s 3d to 24s 6d, and unfinished 21s to 22s 3d. The fat cattle yarding was only mediumsized and was made up mainly of medium and inferior quality cows. Few good quality medium-weight heifers were included. Good quality bullocks were also few in number, a fact which made them difficult to quote. Medium quality beefers made from £9 10s to £ll, light-weights £8 5s to £9, good quality cows £8 10s to £9 ss, medium-weights £6 10s to £7 ss, and aged and inferior sorts £3 10s to £4 10s.
