Domain Board.—A meeting of the Tuapeka Domain Board was held on Friday, when Dr W. Sutherland occupied . the chair. Reference was made by the chairman to the death of Mr Albert Hart, who had occupied the position of chairman of the board for many years. He was a man who had devoted a great deal of time and effort to his duties, and it was due to his enthusiasm and service that the board was in such a good position. A minute of appreciation was recorded, and it was decided that a letter of sympathy be sent to Mr Hart's family. Members expressed gratification at the number of campers who had made use of the motorists' camping ground during the holidays, and with a view to enlarging and improving the property it was decided to terminate the lease of part of the area which was at present rented from the end of March. The Works Committee was authorised to remove two wooden stiles from the Reservoir Hill to the camping grounds. The election of a permanent chairman of the board was held over until next meeting. Lawrence E.P.S.—A meeting of controllers of the various units of the Lawrence Borough Emergency Precautions Scheme was held at the E.P.S. headquarters on Monday night. The Mayor (Mr W. J. Suters) was in the chair. The chairman stated that a meeting of the law and order section had recently been held, and members of this section were of the opinion that a preliminary "tryout" should be held at an early date. With this object in view a proposed programme had been drawn up, which would include practical work, by the local Voluntary' Aid Division, the Boy Scout Troop; and each unit of the E.P.S. The organising of such a demonstration, the chairman said, was not to show members how much they knew, but how much they did not know, and they would thereby benefit from actual experience. It was agreed to hold an emergency " try-out " on the afternoon of Saturday, February 14, commencing at 2.15 p.m. The casualty, clearing station, under the direction of the Lawrence V.A.D. class, will be in the Borough Council Chambers, and arrangements were made for ambulances and drivers. The Lawrence Volunteer Fire Brigade, under the direction of Superintendent J. Ledingham, will be detailed to fire duties within the borough. It was also decided to approach the Lawrence Fire Board regarding the immediate repairing of one of the fire reels. The Mayor reported that he had concluded arrangements for the installation of an emergency siren on the premises of Tuapeka Motors, Ltd.
