THE FAR EAST AUSTRALIAN BOMBERS REACH SINGAPORE LONDON, De*. 5. It is reported from Singapore that a considerable number of Bristol Beaufort medium bombers have arrived direct from Australia. An emergency meeting of the Australian War Cabinet has been summoned. This announcement followed an earlier meeting at which important defence decisions are reported to have been taken. An observer in Canberra says the view held in political circles in Australia is that the Far Eastern situation has deteriorated during the past 24 hours.
