SOLDIER ON TRIAL

HAPPENINGS AT FORT DORSET (P.A.) WELLINGTON, OCi. 1«. The trial began in the Supreme Court to-day of Arthur Frederick Lee on five charges of indecent assault. There are 11 witnesses for the Crown, and the trial is expected to extend throughout to-mor-rov. • The Crown Prosecutor (Mr C. H. Weston) said the accused, who was aged 30, and married, was in the 7th Heavy Battery at Fort Dorset. It was alleged that he,. Indecently assaulted two fellow soldiers, one on two occasions and the other on throe occasions, in June or July. The whole business reflected credit on no one concerned, but in fairness to the men of the battery ir had to be remembered that the allegations involved only one hut containing one-tenth of the men of the battery. Evidence for the Crown was being heard when the court adjourned till to-morrow morning.
