OTAGO WOMEN'S CLUB

MUSIC CIRCLE The Music Circle of the Otago Women's Club held its annual meeting on Friday last. Mrs Wakefield (president) was in the chair. Proposing the adoption of the report and balance sheet presented by the secretary, Mrs Holmes commented on the good attendances throughout the year, and congratulated the circle on the excellence of the programmes provided by members and visiting musical friends. Seconding the motion. Miss E. Ryan endorsed the remarks of the president. The sincere interest which Miss Jean Nicolson evinced, in the welfare of the circle was the subject of feeling reference in the secretary's report. The election of the office-bearers tor the year resulted as follows: —Chairwoman. Mrs L. Beaumont; vice-chair woman, Miss E. Logic*, secretary. Mrs G. H. Eliiffe; committee—Mesdames N Ellis. P. Dick, R. Laurenson. E. Focken. and the Misses M. Paine. M. Grant S. Bayley and N. Garland. Mrs L. Beaumont a then presided over the monthly meeting, when a programme of chamber music, arranged by Mrs Olive Campbell, was presented The items were as follows:—-Sonata in F minor, Op. 5 ( Brahms). Mrs Olive Campbell; violin and piano sonata (Elgar), Mr Rees McConachy and Mrs Campbell; Phantasy Trio (Bridge), Mrs Olive Campbell Miss Dorothy hush, and Mr Rees McConachy. On behalf of the members of the circle Miss Emilie Logie moved a cordiaL vote of thanks to the visiting musicians for the evening's programme.
