DESERTION CHARGES

TWO SOLDIERS SENTENCED (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 13. Private William Henry Hudson, ati Expeditionary Force soldier, of Burnham mobilisation camp, who .pleaded guilty at a court martial last Wednesday to a "charge of desertion by absenting himself without leave with intent to avoid embarkation, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour. On a similar charge, to which he pleaded not guilty. Private Gordon Noel Boyd was found not guilty of desertion, but guilty of being absent 'without leave. He was sentenced to 14 days' detention.
