SOLDIERS AND POLITICS

THE PRINCIPLE CONDEMNED AUCKLAND BRANCH CRITICISED (P.A.) PALMERSTON N... Oct. 13. At a meeting of the Palmerston North executive- of the Returned Soldiers' Asssociation a resolution was passed affirming loyalty to the New Zealand Association in the basic principle of its constitutipn as a non-party political organisation . The meeting further expressed surprise and indignation that, regardless of what the consensus of opinion of members throughout the Dominion might be, the execu tive of the Auckland branch should tak« independent action to amend its constitution in this particular direction.

The executive further expressed the opinion that if individuals of the Auckland Association were dissatisfied with the constitution of the N.Z.R.S.A, their proper course was to resign from its membership and form a separate organisation altogether quite distinct from the N.Z.R.S.A. The executive also decided' to urg»headquarters of the association, in the event of the Auckland Association becoming disaffiliated, to take every possible action to ensure that the funds of that branch were not diverted to purposes other than those for which they were received by the Auckland Association as an affiliated branch.
