OPENING OF SYNOD The third session of the twenty-fifth Synod of the Diocese of Duriedin was opened in St. Paul's Schoolroom last night. Bishop Fitchett presiding In the course of his presidential address. Bishop Fitchett said that there was a strong feeling ? .mong the clergy that something should be done to relieve them of a hardship caused by the Social Security Act. The Standing Committee of the General Synod had asked the Provincial Pension Board to investigate the position of all the clergy pension funds in the province in the light of the Social Security Act, and to make a further attempt to establish a provincial pension fund. After formal business had been transacted synod adjourned until to-day.
