SHIPYARD LABOUR

NO DISPUTES IN CANADA WAR-TIME PROGRAMME (Rec. 0.45 a.m.) MONTREAL, Oct. 9. Launching a cargo ship at Fort Villemarie, Mr C. D. Howe, the Minister of Munitions, said that Canada’s war-time shipbuilding programme involved the construction of 100 vessels, of which 24 keels had thus far been laid down. He said that in 1942 Canada’s output of cargo ships would equal Britain’s. He added that not an hour had been lost through ship-yard labour disputes.
