monthly meeting of council The monthly meeting of the Waikouaiti County Council was held yesterday. when there, were present Crs D. McLachlan (chairman), A. C. Inglis, E. Laley. W. Lee, C. T. McCallum and A. A. Reid. The Otago Electric Power Board forwarded a copy of a letter from Mr W. T Coughlan asking for the erection of a street light at the turning place at Purakanui.—The council decided to consider the matter after the black-out had been discontinued. It was decided to ask the Otago Electric Power Board when it was renewing the power pole on the west side of the railway lines near Warrington Station, to have it put back to the fence to enable the council to widen the road at this point. A letter from Mr C. C. Rose, drawing the council’s attention to the state of the road leading to their Purakanui properties, and also asking for some improvements to the turning place for cars, was referred to the inspector to attend to. The secretary of the Warrington Domain Board wrote asking the council to release the board from the control of the Warrington Esplanade and suggesting that it be placed under the control of the Warrington Improvement Society.—Agreed to. Circulars from the Dominion Lighting Controller dealing with the. matters under the Lighting Restrictions were received. The finance report was received, and accounts amounting to £665 3s 7d were passed for payment. Subsequent to the meeting the council inspected the renovations and improvements to the offices and the work » was favourably commented on.
