NO WASTE OF LEMONS MARKETING DEPARTMENTS WORK (0.C.) WELLINGTON,-Aug. 29. A report that thousands of lemons and oranges' would go. to in, the North Island this season because the growers said that it was hot profitable to market them under the Government's plan was denied by the Minister of Marketing, Mr J. G. Barclay, when he replied in the House of Representatives to-day to an urgent question by Mr.W. Mi C. Denham (Govt, Invercargill). . '-■% ;■-;• : The Government, through the Marketing Department, had purchased the entire crop of marketable lemons pro? duced in the Dominion, the Minister said,, and not only had it arranged for the sale of the fruit to the consumer, but it also undertook the processing into peel and juice to ensure that none of the crop was wasted. The Government did not purchase or market New Zealand oranges, but the growers had, on several occasions appealed to the Government for assistance in; marketing their crop through the machinery created by the Marketing Department for the distribution of lemons. ' '
