POSTS FOR SIXTH-YEAR STUDENTS

PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION (P.A-) WELLINGTON,' ' The Minister of Health, Mr A. H. Nordmeyer* announced to-day that the Medical Practitioners (Emergency) Regulations, published in this week’s Gazette, gave power to the ‘ Medical Council to grant registration to those Sixth-year medical students who had been appointed as house surgeons in public hospitals. This step had been taken at the request of the hospital boards affected so that the men appointed to do the work of doctors in the hospitals \ should not. have any legal hindrance put in the way of their carrying out their duties. The provisional registration, Mr Nordmeyer said, would be conditional on the students passing their final examination in due course, and could be withdrawn at any time by the Medical Council. "
